ResMa® User Manual¶
Version 3.8 [November 2025]
Preliminary remarks on the manual¶
The ResMa® manual covers all variants and options of ResMa®. Therefore, features may be described that are not included in the installation before you.
In many cases, the screenshots are related to our demo project, which may differ from the project you have. Since representations can have different color schemes (orange/blue) via the selection of the color scheme, a deviation is also possible here.
Depending on the personal rights assigned by logging on to the system (configured by the admin), access to data or configuration options is restricted.
We recommend the following procedure when reading the manual:
Chapter Installation only if the software is not already installed and you want to install it
The most important basics and instructions for configuring your application can be found in Chapter 5 ‘Data Points and Connectors’ and Chapter 6 ‘Monitoring’.
Note
Please read this before working with the system!
Everything else is explained in the chapters of each package, unless it belongs to the topic of administration and system settings
We offer extended support services for ResMa® via maintenance contract (SLA):
Extended hotline access and guaranteed response times
Extended support for solutions
Software updates
Please contact your sales representative!

Getting started with a ResMa® project:
Creation of rights groups and users to secure system access
Checking and possibly supplementing predefined units
Creating value categories
Configure data points in the connector with the parameters for coupling with the control systems or energy meters. With the PROCON-WEB Connector, this has to be done outside of ResMa® with the PROCON-WEB Designer, in the case of direct Modbus coupling via the integrated Modbus connector
Creating the standard object tree
Creating derived (calculated) values
Creating a Dashboard
Product variants¶
ResMa® is a software solution based on industrial data for analysis and process optimization purposes. In addition, ResMa® is used as energy management software, for which the energy management package was specially created. For this purpose, ResMa® is certified by TÜV Süd according to ISO 50,001 criteria. This supports the customer in saving energy resources and in the energetic optimization of processes.
ResMa® is a web-based solution that stores all recorded measures in a SQL database. Technically, ResMa® is based on a .Net server application with HTML 5. No additional plugins are used or needed. As a result, ResMa® is independent of third-party components. ResMa® consists of a central installation, which can be called up from the network via an HTML5-capable browser.
ResMa® is available in different versions:
ResMa®-Server standard solution for installation on a customer system
ResMa®-Compact entry-level solution installed on a compact IPC
ResMa® is divided into a basic package and additional packages:
ResMa® Monitoring & Reports (basic package)
Monitoring
Dashboard (scoreboards)
Live Monitor (dynamic value views)
Values (value lists)
Time Series
Measurement Points
Documents & Web Applications (documents and web links)

ResMa-Server¶
The ResMa® server is the standard solution of a ResMa® system. It offers the greatest scalability in terms of the number of measuring points to be recorded and offers all available options in terms of functionality. Due to its possible structure, this solution is suitable as a cross-site data and energy management (Industrial IoT solution). This version can be installed on dedicated as well as virtual servers.
If required, the ResMa® server can be extended with customer-specific plug-ins for special tasks!
ResMa-Compact¶
The ResMa®-Compact system is delivered pre-installed on a DIN rail IPC and can therefore be put into operation directly. That’s why this variant provides a good entry-level solution. The version has the ModBus connector as standard for coupling ModBusTCP/RTU-capable controllers or measuring devices. The scaling of measuring points is limited to 200 or 500. The functionality of ResMa® is also limited here.
The following functions are not available here:
Resource view with Sankey evaluation
Cost Center View
PDCA Cycles
Shift book
Live Monitor
Manual data entry
PROCON-WEB and PROCON-WIN Connector
System design¶
Constellations¶
The central point of a ResMa® application is always the ResMa® server. This can be virtualized or installed on a physically existing machine. This is located on the intranet or in an open network, so that it can be reached by clients and it can reach controllers or measuring devices itself. To record measurement data in ResMa® there are connectors. Connectors are data collectors that can run on stand-alone PCs/PLCs or directly on the ResMa® server. So a piece of internal or external software. Internally, ResMa® means® itself provides the interface. The external software is based on the Weidmüller GTI software HMI/SCADA systems PROCON-WIN/-WEB or on specially developed libraries for various control types.
A complex ResMa® structure is shown in the figure below.
Various constellations are feasible here. If you have any questions, please contact your sales representative or ResMa® support directly.
Connectors¶
ResMa® can be used as a cross-site Industrial IoT solution, but also as an on-premise installation or as a compact EnMS.
Compact installation with direct process connection¶
A structure like ResMa-Compact® can be easily produced via a Windows host. The ResMa® software is installed directly on a Windows PC. In addition, one or more of the connectors is installed on the same PC so that it can be used simultaneously for direct data acquisition. This reduces the technical effort, but also carries the risk that if the PC fails (e.B. due to maintenance measures), the data acquisition fails and is thus lost.
Onpremise application with data collection via gateway¶
This is the preferred and typical setup for a ResMa® constellation. ResMa is installed locally on a (virtual) server and the data acquisition software (the connectors) is hosted separately on gateways. Gateways are Windows PCs or embedded control systems, depending on the connector type.
How the gateways work as connectors¶
When the system is set up, the gateways collect data locally, store it temporarily (which prevents data failure in the event of server unavailability) and transmit it to the server. The connection between the gateway and server can be used permanently or at cyclical intervals to reduce the load on the line.
The connector is parameterized via the associated configuration software so that it connects to the connected controllers or energy meters using the available protocols and can collect the parameterized data points.
When data points are created in ResMa® , the locally configured data point list is made available there and offered for selection. Only the selected data points are then collected and logged by the connector at the specified sampling rate.
Coupling of external services¶
Since version 3.5.0 it is possible to link ResMa with other services (Micro Service) from Weidmüller GTI Software GmbH.
Recipe management is one of the first services available here. These services must be purchased and licensed separately.
The system statistics show whether the corresponding service is active.
