Plant structure¶
General¶
With the item plant structure, the complete logical / physical structure of the plant, the process to be visualized, can be included in the designer! The structure is hierarchical, so any number of sub-elements can be assigned to the “root” element. These can in turn contain sub-elements.
By assigning tags, messages, and images to an element of the system structure, this can be used as a filter to filter the elements during project processing that are only used within the selected component. This makes it easier to select and edit objects, especially for very large projects.

Filter¶
The filter can be switched on or off centrally via the menu or the toolbar. This helps the user to concentrate on the essential components of his current work process. To activate an element for the filter, check the box to the left of the element. If you activate or deactivate an element, all sub-elements are activated or deactivated accordingly.
Whether an element is activated or deactivated is also saved in the project DB, i.e., the corresponding filters are still set after the project has been closed and opened.
Note
The filters relate to the display of the process variables, alarms, pictures, and scripts. Elements that are assigned to the root element of the system structure (= default) are not displayed when the filter is activated, regardless of whether the root element is activated in the tree or not.
Structural elements¶
By opening the context menu of the plant structure, it is possible to create a new structure element, delete it or display its references. Furthermore, the level of the structural elements can be changed via the context menu!:::{note

Deleting elements¶
The selected structure element and all sub-elements are deleted via the menu item “Delete structure element”.
Moving items¶
The order of the sub-elements is initially fixed. It is determined by the order in which it is created. Elements, including their sub-elements, can, however, be moved within a level.

Show references¶
The references of the corresponding element are displayed via the menu item “Show all references”. The sub-elements are not considered.
Parameter structural elements¶
Definition of the parameters when creating or editing a structure element:

Parameter |
Meaning |
|
---|---|---|
Name |
Unique name of the element, that is displayed in the tree. |
|
Short name |
Short name of the element, multilingual |
Important
The name may only appear once within a level of an element. If the name is present several times within a level, this error is displayed in the info area or when the runtime is generated.
